Embracing Peace and Unity
At Infinite Center Church, we are passionate about fostering peace, understanding, and unity within our community and beyond. With immense joy and gratitude, we reflect on the Banning Peace Pole. This powerful symbol stands tall in our region, embodying these very principles. It serves as a constant reminder that peace begins with us. Understanding can replace division, and compassion can replace conflict!
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." - Matthew 5:9
The Peace Pole in Banning is more than just a monument; it is a mission and a goal. Its primary purpose is to promote peace, unity, and goodwill among all people. It encourages collaboration and brings the community together. Even on a rainy Saturday, the dedication ceremony saw "standing room only." This demonstrates a strong collective desire to celebrate peace and engage actively in our community!
A Collaborative Effort
This initiative beautifully aligns with the Rotary International motto of
"Service Above Self,"
representing a commitment to giving back to the community and fostering understanding across cultures.
The installation of this significant symbol was a truly collaborative endeavor. It united diverse groups with a shared vision for peace. We extend our most profound appreciation to all who contributed to making this dream a reality, including:
The Morongo Band of Mission Indians Morongo Band of Mission Indians
The City of Banning City of Banning
The San Gorgonio Pass Rotary Club San Gorgonio Pass Rotary Club
County Supervisors, including representatives from the County Board of Supervisors Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez Riverside County Office of Education county
Congressional representatives, specifically from the 25th Congressional District
State Senate representatives, including those serving Senate District 19
We also wish to recognize the invaluable contributions of all constituents and council members in our community. Their dedication makes Banning a place where peace can truly flourish!
Celebrating Diversity
Furthermore, we are especially proud of our very own Pastor Nathan Rodriguez, who also serves on the Planning Commission. His continuous commitment to civic engagement and community betterment inspires us all.
What makes the Banning Peace Pole particularly profound is its message inscribed in four languages. This honors the rich history of our region: Serrano, Mhuang, English, and Spanish. This multilingual approach ensures that the message of peace resonates with a broader segment of our community.
On each side of the Peace Pole, the profound message
"May Peace Prevail on Earth"
is etched. This reminds us of our shared humanity and our collective aspiration. To truly embrace its spirit, let us reflect on this powerful phrase in these four languages:
English: May Peace Prevail on Earth
Spanish: Que la Paz Prevalezca en la Tierra
Serrano: Paha'a havat 'ily marav'
Mhuang (Hmong): Kom Kev Thaj Yeeb Nyob Hauv Ntiaj Teb
As we stand before this symbol, we are reminded of another timeless truth:
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." - Micah 6:8
